Underwater Tank

You will see plant-like animals, estuary critters, creepy crustaceans and fish, which are all part of the complex and amazing ecosystem that is the Pacific Ocean. The displays are up-close and personal, and change with the seasons. Our underwater area takes you into a fascinating world of unusual sights, vibrant colors and rare life forms.

Behold the spectacular sunflower star and nimble nudibranch. Come face-to-face with a ferocious wolf eel or the razor-sharp teeth of a ling cod. Follow the teetering tentacles of the wily octopus in its open floor pool. Usual visitors on display include: Giant Pacific
Octopus, Wolf Eels, Flatfish.

Touch Tank

Our NEW Discovery Center gives you an opportunity to use the microscopes to view our tiniest creatures, and our staff members will enjoy answering questions. You will also have a chance to view special exhibits of fascinating sea life. You can actually touch sea anemones, sandpaper textured sea stars and a prickly sea urchins in the “Touch Tank”.

Seaside Aquarium is one of the oldest aquariums on the West Coast. Founded in 1937, the aquarium is privately owned and the descendants of some of the founders are still active in the aquarium operation. The aquarium is proud to be involved in public awareness programs: Marine Mammal Stranding Network, Necanicum Estuary Discovery Program, Sea Week and other marine education tours and activities for school children.
